Hannah Laimer, DO

Founding Program Director

Dr. Hannah Laimer is the founding Program Director of the Innercare Family Medicine Residency Program. A family physician dedicated to rural and underserved communities, she previously practiced full-spectrum Family Medicine, including obstetrical care, in Tulare, California. Prior to joining Innercare, she served as an Associate Program Director, where she developed a passion for residency education, physician mentorship, and program development.

Dr. Laimer is committed to expanding access to high-quality healthcare for vulnerable populations and strengthening the physician workforce in underserved regions. Her vision for the residency program is to train compassionate, evidence-based family physicians who are equipped to serve diverse communities, address health disparities, and become leaders in community-based healthcare. She is passionate about health equity, physician wellness, and creating meaningful training experiences that inspire residents to care for those with the greatest need.

Conrado Bárzaga, MD

Designated Institutional Official (DIO) · Vice President and Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Conrado Bárzaga, MD, serves as Designated Institutional Official (DIO) for the Innercare Family Medicine Residency Program and as Vice President and Chief Academic Officer for Innercare. An internationally recognized public health leader, he has more than 25 years of experience advancing health equity, expanding healthcare access, and developing healthcare workforce programs in underserved communities.

Prior to joining Innercare, Dr. Bárzaga served as CEO of the Desert Healthcare District & Foundation and led numerous initiatives focused on improving care for vulnerable populations throughout the Coachella Valley and Inland Empire. His passion for community health, medical education, and physician workforce development helps guide the growth of graduate medical education programs dedicated to serving rural and medically underserved communities.

Lucia Lopez

Residency Program Coordinator

Lucia Lopez serves as the Residency Program Coordinator for the Innercare Family Medicine Residency Program. A Coachella Valley native, Lucia was raised in Indio and has dedicated her academic and professional career to improving healthcare access in underserved communities. She brings experience in public health program management, healthcare workforce research, community engagement, and healthcare analytics.

Lucia is passionate about supporting the development of the next generation of physicians and strengthening healthcare access throughout the Coachella and Imperial Valleys. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is committed to fostering inclusive, patient-centered care and helping residents thrive throughout their training journey.
